in oakland, i'm da lin, cbs 5. >> thank you. >>> an 11-year-old daly city boy is dead after a police chase in pasadena. joe vazquez on the accident and neighbors who are devastated by the news. joe. >> reporter: the victim, allen, is 11-year-old kendrick ing here with his family on 89th street in daly city. they are presumed still to be in southern california dealing with the aftermath of this horrible crash. the family was in southern california in pasadena on christmas day visiting relatives. as they were riding in a minivan police were chasing a suspect in an suv through the streets. the chase went a mile and less than a minute then the suspect vehicle failed to stop for a red light and smashed into the minivan. two cousins were killed including an 11-year-old in daly city. three others were badly hurt. the identity of the young man shot and killed by police in a bay area city that rarely sees the type of violence. ktvu's jana katsuyama is live in walnut creek this evening to tell us what neighbors heard in the middle of the night. jana. >> reporter: that's right we have confirmed that the man who was shot and killed by police is anthony banta. he lives in that apartment come lek -- apartment complex right across the street. and his neighbors tell us he was a hairdresser that works just across the way. tonight we found the front window boarded up at apartment 60 where the man killed anthony banta lives. walnut creek police tells us they got a call from the apartment complex. the dispatcher could hear screaming in the background. police say when officers arrived about six minutes later banta was armed with a weapon inside the apartment. police say officers were forced to shoot banta. today neighbors say the gunshots woke them up. >> i heard something that sounded like seven to eight shots. >> i saw six or seven officers busting into the apartment with a lot of gunfire and running in

to the embarcadero for the fire works show. and there are other parties going on in the city. is a lot of people will not want to take their cars. bay area transit agencies are making it easier for them to leave their cars behind by offering free rides in some cases and extended service. starting with bart. bart you will still have to pay for your tickets but their trains will be running late tonight until 3:00 a.m. tuesday morning. but in order to avoid congestion, trains will not be stopping at all the stations. keep this in mind if you are riding the pepper bay point train it will stop at the embarcadero station. make sure you go to the right place to catch your ride home. muni is also extending service at the west portal and embarcadero stations. muni will run until 4:00 a.m. new years day. and fourth and king muni will run until 2:15 a.m.. muni will be free for riders starting from 8:00 p.m. until 6:00 a.m.. caltrain and samtrans will be giving free rides. the last train will leave at 2:15 a.m.. there are a lot of options, three free options for those looking to enjoy new years eve celebrat

of a car that plowed into a group of people enjoying the city lights from twin peaks went before a judge today. turns out the woman wanted to be a cop. cbs 5 reporter da lin tells us now she faces a long prison sentence. >> reporter: the suspect gina eunice is locked up tonight. she appeared briefly in court at the hall of justice this afternoon. she did not enter a plea. a judge set her bail amount at $2 million citing public safety for that high amount. instead of up holing the law, gina eunice seen here in an orange jumpsuit found herself on the wrong side of the law. >> studying criminal justice hoping to become a police officer. >> reporter: her attorney says eunice was about to graduate from college. the san francisco district attorney charged the 23-year- old woman with driving under the influence, vehicular manslaughter. those are just some of the six charges she is facing after police say she drive her car into a group of people last week. the accident killed a 56-year- old woman visiting from china and injured two others. police say the injury knocked the three pedestrians abou

the lights. >> a man was shot and killed last night in oakland. marketing the city's 126 homicide of the year. e >> they continue to look for is suspects that jumped into the creek last night. the started about 1238 and the town of ross. they pulled over a suspected drunken driver. when they were giving the sobriety test to the suspect he took off 01 feet and just over a fence. he it and jumped into this creek. they were able to have visual contact with their flashlights but they try to encourage him to get out of the water and that of merely they lost contact with him. they called other agencies to come out to help the mob.them out. >> they searched until about 430 this morning looking for any signs of the suspect. they could not find anything so that suspended the search. if they come back at daybreak to continue the search. so far they do not have any informational. this is where the command post was an obviously as this case and developing we will pass on any new information that we did. right now, we are waiting for search and rescue to come out here and start searching the creek again.
